Alumnus Profile: Marcus Taplin
WHAT YOU DO • • • At Fox Sports North I produce and edit a show called Vikings Weekly during football season. This show is a weekly magazine style show that features current and former Minnesota Vikings players and coaches. We spotlight what the players do on and off the field through out the season. There is no normal work day in the TV business and I could find myself at the studio editing and working on the show, at Winter Park running down players for interviews, or stopping over at a player's house to shoot a story. When it's not Vikings season, I am working on pre and post game shows for the Wild, Wolves, Twins and Gopher Hockey.
HOW BETHANY HAS PREPARED YOU • • • Bethany was instrumental in helping me gain valuable experience and land a job at a bit network right out of college. The tools and resources that Bethany has in the communication department are some of the best in the country! The ability to use a state-of-the-art live production truck at Bethany is truly a blessing.
WHAT YOU REMEMBER MOST • • • My time at Bethany was amazing! I met my wife and many close friends during my four years. I also remember many longs night in the old communication center getting ready for hockey broadcasts and traveling to Duluth.
ADVICE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS • • • Take college seriously, I see so many kids waste those four years and then wonder what they are going to do after it's over. Think of college as four years to take advantage of all the great tools that are placed in front of you to get ahead of your competition.
