Bethany bands head east for Spring Break

The Bethany Lutheran College Concert Band and Jazz Band will travel east for their spring 2012 permformance and study tour. The group will tour historically significant sites in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition to educational and performance opportunities at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania; the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio; and the Chicago Brass Festival at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, Illinois, the Bethany students will perform the following concerts:

The Concert Band, directed by Adrian Lo, will be performing American Fanfare by Rick Kirby, Variations on “America” by Charles Ives and arranged by William E. Rhoads, Suite for Winds and Percussion by Johnnie Vinson, two of the Four Dances from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein and arranged by Ian Polster, Chorale and Alleluia by Howard Hanson, and William Schuman’s famous Chester. The Jazz Band, under the direction of Erik Hermanson, will present music ranging from the swing tradition to rock including numbers by Henry Mancini, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Chuck Mangione and others. The concert is free (an offering will be received) and the public is invited to attend. Advance reservations are NOT required.
