Alex Stefanske (2014)Alex, a 2014 Bethany graduate, works at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, which provides rehabilitation services for people with short- and long-term conditions, injuries and disabilities.

WHAT DO YOU DO • • • I’m involved with a variety of personal health initiatives at the ground level with individuals at Allina Health in the Twin Cities. I supervise and monitor exercise participants, perform fitness assessments, determine exercise prescriptions, design workout programs for a diverse population including a variety of high-risk patients, and provide one-on-one consulting, training and motivation. I also design and implement incentive, health promotion, and other specialty programs, instruct group exercise classes, perform administrative tasks associated with facility operations, and integrate patients to the clinic, physical therapy, and fitness departments.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU • • • I want to make an impact on a person’s health. Doing that makes me much happier person.

HOW BETHANY HAS PREPARED YOU • • • The Bethany Health Department prepared me for this job from just talking about nutrition to diagnosing and explaining to a person why they’re having particular muscle problem.

WHAT YOU REMEMBER MOST ABOUT BETHANY • • • The staff was the most valuable asset. Bethany’s teachers are the best at what they do!

ADVICE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS • • • Choose a career that makes you happy and don’t follow the money alone. Always keep you eyes open for opportunity. It took a while to find the right career, but now that I’ve found it, I plan to stick with it!
