Gabrielle Emmons – Class of 2017 – History and English
What you do:
Pursuing a masters in history at the University of Northern Iowa.
I am a graduate assistant for the UNI History Department. This semester I have been helping Professor Hettle with his research.
What inspires you:
I was drawn to the field of history because I was fascinated by the stories of those who came before us. I want to help preserve those stories and pass them down to future generations.
How you want to make a difference:
I hope to one day teach at either a private Christian school or private Lutheran college. I also hope to one day get married and have a family of my own.
How Bethany has prepared you:
Through the wonderful, encouraging support of Bethany’s History and English departments, I was able to pursue my dream of studying history and english. With the help of these professors, I was able to hone my skills as a researcher and a writer and use these skills to further my education as the graduate level. If it were not for their loving support, I would not be where I am today.
What you remember most about Bethany:
The wonderful Lutheran atmosphere where I was able to not only grow in my Lutheran faith but to also grow as a student through the amazing support of its professors.
Advice for current students:
Do not be afraid to go to your professors for help. They want you to succeed and fulfill your academic dreams.
