GRDS230Graphic Design I:Tools, Methodology, and Vocabulary 3 credits
An introduction to the theory, tools, and professional practices of the graphic design field. Emphasis given to the generation of creative and effective solutions, and the efficient utilization of software typically used for print design.
GRDS330Graphic Design II: Graphic DesignStudio 3 credits
An opportunity for students to further develop their graphic design skill set. Students will be asked to discover original solutions for a variety of design problems for both print and online delivery. Prerequisite: GRDS230 - Graphic Design I:Tools, Methodology, and Vocabulary
GRDS332Graphic Design III: Introductionto Web and UX Design 3 credits
Introduction to the basic principles and methodology of the web/user interface designer. Topics include user experience (UX) design, and the various avenues available for the construction of a compelling web site. Prerequisites: GRDS330 - Graphic Design II: Graphic DesignStudio or consent of Instructor.
GRDS336Graphic Design IV: Design forMultimedia 3 credits
Development of an original body of design work for multiple media formats. The course covers integration of imagery, text, sound, video, animation, and interactive design. Prerequisite: GRDS332 - Graphic Design III: Introductionto Web and UX Design
GRDS494Graphic Design Senior Project/Capstone - Part One 2 credits
This course meets in the semester prior to the semester of graduation and provides the opportunity for the student to integrate the theory and methods from previous coursework into a significant and consistent body of work. Topics: portfolio development, self-promotion, and other necessary professional preparation.
GRDS495Graphic Design Senior Exhibition 2 credits
This course is a continuation of GRDS494 - Graphic Design Senior Project/Capstone - Part One (Senior Portfolio) and culminates in a public gallery exhibition and lecture by the artist.
GRDS499Graphic Design Internship 1 credit
Graphic Design related field experience with an approved agency fulfilling an individual learning contract negotiated between student, faculty advisor, and worksite. Graphic Design majors only. Prerequisite: Consent of Instructor.
