Biblical Archaeology Summer Camp 2020 – Canceled
June 19 at 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Why believe Christianity?
Christianity is the only religion that can be proven to be true! The Bible is about real people, who lived real lives in real places and real times and did real things. Christianity is where faith and fact meet.
7th-12th grade students are invited to join the History Department at Bethany Lutheran College for a one-day summer camp experience! Students will learn ancient Hebrew, decode genes from Genesis, analyze artifacts, and discover the evidence for Christ’s resurrection. Bethany professors will guide the instruction of the day’s activities. The students will explore the science of archaeology and how archaeologists study the past.

Genesis and History:
A Little Hebrew Goes a Long Way
Is the Book of Genesis fact or fiction? Students will learn a few key words from the Hebrew Bible, demonstrating that the Genesis accounts of creation and the flood are historical, not allegorical. (No prior knowledge of Hebrew is required.)
Genesis and Genetics:
Darwinism Is Not in Our DNA
Does the science of genetics fit better with evolution or creation? Students will discover that genetics fits readily with the teachings that humans were created several thousand years ago and that human nature has degraded over time; genetics does not fit so readily with the evolutionary teachings that human origins are ancient and that human nature is advancing.
Archaeology of the Bible:
Ancient Ruins Match the Sacred Text
Is there archaeological evidence for the truth of the Bible? Students will discover that relics from ancient civilizations match up with the people, events, and timeline of Bible history. Ancient artifacts will be provided for analysis!
Evidence for Easter:
Eyewitnesses Testified That Christ Rose
Did the resurrection of Jesus really happen? Students will discover that the apostles’ teaching was based on eyewitness testimony and that Roman and Jewish writers from that time period agree with the New Testament as to the basic facts surrounding Jesus’ death and resurrection.
