Cody Hardin ’11

Cody Hardin (2011)

Cody Hardin, Class of 2011, earned a double major in Communication and Music from Bethany Lutheran College, with emphases in TV & Film Audio and Theory & Composition. He now serves as a Senior Audio Operator at a ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut. In his role, Cody mixes live audio for high-profile broadcasts including NBA, MLB, NHL, College Football, and College Basketball, manages intercom and communication systems, and provides mentorship and technical training to new operators.

Cody’s inspiration comes from working alongside passionate creative professionals: “I am inspired by people who are passionate about what they do, no matter what their chosen field is… When people are actively engaged in what they do, that inspires me to work harder in my field.”

He embraces the dynamic nature of live broadcast technology and the adaptability it demands: “The REMI component means that instead of traveling everyone all over the country… we send a smaller crew to site and pipe the signals back to our headquarters… every level of game production has a REMI component…”

Reflecting on his time at Bethany, Cody highlights hands-on experience and strong mentoring as foundational: “While Bethany provides education of the highest caliber, its shining light… is its focus on Christ’s work for us… the classes and professors prepared and shaped me as a man…” He recalls student productions in broadcasting and film as critical early training: “You get your hands on the same tools and equipment we actually use in a professional broadcast environment.”

Cody remains committed to service beyond his industry through gospel-centered outreach. He serves as Director of Evangelism at his church, helping livestream worship services and expanding their reach globally.

His path—from Communication and Music major to technical leader in live broadcast—demonstrates how Bethany Lutheran College fosters graduates with technical skill, creative confidence, professional adaptability, and Christian integrity.
