Cynthia Krause ’19

Cynthia Krause completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music at Bethany College in 2019, where she focused on harp and organ performance. After graduation, she spent two gap years working before pursuing a master’s degree in harp performance at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. In December 2022, she earned her Master of Music., having studied under Kathy Kienzle, former harpist with the Minnesota Orchestra.

Now a self-employed professional musician in the Twin Cities, Cynthia balances a multifaceted schedule: teaching private piano and harp lessons in various settings (her home, students’ homes, and three Christian schools), practicing organ for her church, and preparing for performances and events. She shares, “One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to see my students every week and invest in their lives.” Her day-to-day involves lesson planning, correspondence, practice, and scheduling—but the real joy comes from watching students learn and grow through music.

Cynthia is driven by a desire to mentor and uplift. She reflects, “My highest aspiration as a teacher is to not only instill a love of music in my students, but also be an encouraging, supportive mentor in their lives.” Her work is rooted in personal connection, faith-informed service, and a commitment to nurturing the whole person through the arts.

Her path—from liberal arts undergraduate to master’s-trained musician and mentor—demonstrates how Bethany’s individualized instruction and faith-based environment prepare students for careers that blend professional excellence with meaningful service. Cynthia’s story illustrates how a Christ-centered musical education can open doors to teaching, performance, and community impact.
