Natalie Wishcop ’19

Natalie Wishcop graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Bethany, where she developed strong foundations in instrumental performance, choral ensembles, and music pedagogy. Today, she serves as a band director at a Lutheran school while also sharing her voice as a contracted singer with the Minnesota Chorale — performing regularly with the Minnesota Orchestra as part of their symphonic chorus.

Natalie’s journey into music is deeply spiritual. Reflecting on her aspirations, she shares, “All of the blessings that the art of musicianship brings us are gifts from God himself.” Her professional and personal mission is to bring the phrase “Soli Deo Gloria” everywhere she goes, and guides her both in teaching young students and on stage, as she strives to let everything she does glorify God.

Her Bethany experience continues to influence her daily life. “The professors of my Bethany instruction have moulded and shaped a great portion of my musical disciplines and is a representation of the quality of instruction at Bethany,” she recalls — a tribute to the nurturing instruction and mentoring she received on campus. Natalie cherishes memories from Choraliers and Theater Physics performances, where campus community and shared creativity flourished in service of the Lord.

Natalie’s advice to current Bethany students is to soak it all in. “In the moment, time can seem so fast working towards the next big thing. Slow down and soak in the blessings of this community. Try something new, invite others to join you and above all, thank God for your time spent with each other creating!”
