Matt Meilner, Class of 2012, graduated with a major in Media Arts from Bethany Lutheran College. He began his creative career interning with industry leaders and now serves as a creative director in Portland, Oregon, where he helps brands communicate openly and honestly about who they are and what they stand for..
Matt finds daily inspiration in the dynamic world of media: “We live in an exciting time for media and technology. Every day someone is generating creative, original ideas that enhance the way we experience media. Advertising is all about using those ideas to tell captivating stories. I love being able to go to work every day and share my stories with the world.”
He reflects on Bethany’s preparation for his vocation: “Critical thinking skills, industry awareness, and effective communication permeated every class I took at Bethany and prepared me for a career in design. I learned professional level technical skills in both theory and hands-on experience… Bethany’s connection with Promax and other industry leaders opened the door for first job in Los Angeles.”
Matt’s story showcases the versatility of a Media Arts major from Bethany Lutheran College—as it equips graduates for innovative, collaborative careers in creative industries with competence, faith-informed perspective, and character.
