Kayla Becker, a 2018 graduate of Bethany Lutheran College with a degree in Elementary Education, teaches third grade at Cross of Christ Lutheran School in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. In her classroom, Kayla brings structure, encouragement, and faith-based care to a room full of growing minds—guiding students through subjects like English language arts, math, and social studies while nurturing their spiritual development.
Her passion for teaching has been lifelong. “I’ve wanted to be a teacher my whole life and have always hoped to impact kids in school in a positive way,” she shares. That calling continues to shape her work each day, as she creates a learning environment that supports academic growth, emotional well-being, and Christian character.
Looking ahead, Kayla hopes to expand her impact by pursuing a master’s degree in school administration. Her goal is to one day serve as an elementary principal and, eventually, help prepare future educators for their own classrooms.
Kayla credits Bethany Lutheran College for preparing her well for both the joys and challenges of teaching. “I felt extremely prepared and set up for success by Bethany’s Education program,” she notes. Her advisor, Dr. Polly Browne, was a key influence—modeling leadership and teaching methods that Kayla still draws on today. She also remembers the guidance and support of Dr. Alanna Lienig and Dr. Carrie Pfeifer, describing Bethany’s education faculty as “incredible mentors” whose encouragement continues to resonate.
Her story reflects how Bethany’s Elementary Education program equips graduates to lead with excellence and faith. Through her teaching, Kayla is shaping young learners—and pointing them toward lives of confidence, kindness, and purpose.
