Ryan McCue ’21

Ryan McCue graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, earning endorsement in Middle School Mathematics. He now teaches fifth grade math and science at United South Central Elementary School in Minnesota, where he brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and classroom leadership each day.

For Ryan, teaching is more than academics—it’s about shaping futures.

“The ability to make an impact on children’s lives inspired me to become a teacher. A teacher can make a huge difference for any student, and I intend to use my calling as a teacher to show others the one thing needful.”

He sees his evolving role as one of inspiration and hope:

“I hope to inspire students to change the world someday because they are the future. I hope to teach for the rest of my career and settle down with a family in the Midwest.”

Ryan credits Bethany’s Education Department team, particularly Dr. Pfeifer and Dr. Lienig, with building confidence and competence through practical experience and curriculum planning:

“The education department staff, Dr. Pfeifer and Dr. Lienig, prepared us for a career teaching with a ton of curriculum planning and experiences teaching in school settings. I feel ready to host my own classroom and make my own decisions because of the relationships we had.”

Reflecting on community at Bethany, he valued the interpersonal connections that continue to shape his professional journey:

“I remember all of the relationships I formed with classmates and staff. I’ll always remember those who had an impact on my life.”

Ryan’s journey—from Bethany’s classroom and mentorship to his daily impact in the elementary school setting—illustrates how a Bethany education equips graduates to teach with heart, resilience, and vision.
